The midfield general had been a regular in the Dons’ successful team this season, making 39 appearances and scoring three goals.

Bulman, 37, made 265 appearances and scored 14 goals during an eight-year period over two spells separated by 16 months at Oxford United, before finally leaving in 2014.

He was a member of Reds’ double promotion-winning team.

Wimbledon beat Crawley 2-1 at the Checkatrade.com Stadium in August and go into this game on the back of three wins in their last four matches.

They have a full-strength squad available, with no injuries.

Goalkeeper Kelle Roos has recovered from a side-strain which caused him to miss training this week.

Assistant manager Neil Cox reckons the squad are relishing the run-in with a play-off place up for grabs.

He said: “The pressure at the bottom end is really difficult.

“But the boys are enjoying this kind of pressure and they cannot wait for the next game. They are focused now on doing a job against Crawley.

“Everybody expects us to win, but it’s going to be really difficult because Crawley are a good side. They will defend well and try and catch us on the break.

“It’s up to us to be safe at the back and wait for our chances to come. We know that we have some good players and the chances will come, even if it takes someone to come off the bench and score the winner in the last minute.”

Striker Lyle Taylor is likely to be their dangerman up front and he is their topscorer with 17 goals this season, including one in their 2-1 win last Saturday away to promotion-rivals Plymouth.

Adebayo Azeez has scored seven goals and the enormous Adebayo Akinfenwa, nicknamed ‘The Beast’ has netted six, including one last weekend coming off the bench.

The referee for the match will be Chichester-based official Tim Robinson.
