Crawley have 'all the ingredients' to compete for League Two play-offs says Gabriele Cioffi ahead of Mansfield trip

Crawley Town boss Gabriele Cioffi believes his side are capable of mounting a serious challenge for the League Two play-offs this season.

Reds ended a run of seven games without a win, by seeing off Crewe Alexandra 3-0 on Saturday, but they had to weather a storm for much of the game.

Cioffi was pleased with the resilience shown by his side and hopes it will be the start of a positive run for the club.

He said: "It's good but it's only the beginning.

"We agreed that our season will be based on personality and will. We have to keep working hard.

"We don't have to think about the play offs. We have to take it game by game. We have all the ingredients to compete with everyone."

Cioffi said tomorrow's trip to Mansfield (Tuesday) is another chance to 'show everyone what we know we can do'.

He added: "We go there to win.

"I told my boys you have to be ready to be beaten.

"They can have no excuses. Excuses are the alibi of the loser."

The Italian confirmed top-scorer Ollie Palmer will be available after missing Saturday's victory through suspension, but had less positive news about influential midfielder Filipe Morais.

"Fil, I think will be out for another two or three games," he revealed.

"He's a strong professional. He will not risk [playing] in his condition."

After playing Mansfield, Crawley have an 11-day break before facing Northampton at home (December 8).

Cioffi said the break will come at a 'perfect time'.

He added: "If we have a good result in Mansfield, we deserve a couple of days off to recharge our batteries mentally and physically."
