The 22-year-old today (Tuesday, June 17) passed a medical and has signed a two-year deal, with the transfer fee understood to be small.

Crawley fought off interest from Championship clubs to land the left-footed centre-back, who will wear the squad number 4 for the 2014/15 season.

Manager John Gregory said: “Sonny is a commanding defender and someone I have been targeting for some time.

“We have good depth in our central defensive positions now but Sonny will be challenging the others for a regular place.

“There was a lot of interest in him, I’m delighted to have signed him.”

Sonny began his career at hometown club Hull at the age of seven, but made only two appearances and after several loan spells, including playing 56 league games for Aldershot, was released and joined Portsmouth.

Last season he started 31 of the first 32 games for Pompey before losing his place under then manager Richie Barker.

In total he made 38 appearances at Fratton Park, scoring once.

Bradley becomes Gregory’s fifth summer signing.
