Crawley Town boss John Yems is delighted the club are showing their appreciation to the NHS.

The club announced an initiative that was initially set up by theircatering partners, Strong Flavours, to provide 100 meals per week for staff at Crawley and East Surrey hospitals, who are battling the coronavirus on the frontline. He said: "We and the players were all involved with that. It’s not the amount sometimes, it’s the gesture.

"We have done a lot with the community scheme and in the cold light of day the people of Crawley are the ones who come and support us and it’s very difficult getting caught between a gimmick and having genuine concern and giving back.

"And in the current climate everybody appreciates the work other people are doing and we have to show that appreciation."

"If we can all come together - let’s hope we can all meet at a game sometime soon, with tickets going out to keyworkers - It might make people see there’s a decent football club in the town. The club doesn’t belong to anyone apart from the supporters."
