Reds were on a superb run of form when the season was curtailed annd that will act as a springboard forward to next season - whenever that may be.

But with the news of the likes of George Francomb, Lewis Young, and hopefully, Dannie Bulman extending their stays and the signing of Sam Matthews - and the promise of more new faces to come - things are looking good at the People’s Pension Stadium.

Yems said “I think everyone wants to push the club forward.

“How far that can go is yet to be seen but it’s not going to be for the want of trying - we will be having a go.

“And when I say ‘having a go’, the way the world is, just survival is the first thing.

“We have just got to get club through what’s going to happen.

“We don’t know what to expect in the future financially.

“The owners have been good, they have been backing everything.

“But I think next year is going to be a big year for football in general, let alone Crawley.”

Yems has also been watching the televised matches this week - and believes playing behind closed doors might not make much difference at some places Crawley will be visiting.

He said: “To be honest with you, it’s nice to have the crowd there but some of the grounds I have been to recently you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference anyway!

“You do miss your own fans. But there’s nothing better - and it’s your first objective when you are away - to shut the crowd up.”
