Crawley Town striker Matt Harrold looking for strong finish

The Reds joint topscorer enjoyed scoring his seventh goal of the season to give his side the lead against Morecambe.

He said: “It came to me and I took a slash at the ball and it was nice see it nestle in the back of the net.

“I’m happy to have scored seven goals and I am looking to score a few more before the end of the season and if Gwion (Edwards) would pass it to me a bit more I might get some more!”

Harrold was disappointed not to get the three points after leading for much of the second half, but concedes a draw is acceptable in the difficult playing conditions.

He said: “We’ve played two games on the back of a really bad performance against Orient and picked up four points.

“It’s not a terrible result. I would expect everyone here say it was two points dropped, but it’s not the worst result in the world.

“We’ve been a bit guilty of going ahead and then dropping off a bit and not being as forthright as we could be.

“While many teams when they go ahead they throw caution to the wind and just go for it and stick a few more up front.

“It’s frustrating. The ball fell to (former Crawley Town striker) Shaun (Miller) and he’s tucked it away - typical it always happens that players score against their old teams.

“Everyone’s a bit low in the changing room. We need to keep believing, stay positive and go from there.

“Everyone can see the limitations we are working with in terms of squad size. Sometimes we only have four on the bench; it’s really tough.

“Some games we only have four people on the bench; it’s really tough.

“It was a typical League 2 scrappy game. The pitch was pretty bad, the wind was swirling and the other team had come in pretty awful form.

“You know sooner or later they would dig in and try to get something out of the game.

“It was one of those games you have to get over the line, and we didn’t but it’s better than a loss.”
