The magic of the FA Cup is still very much alive and kicking for Crawley Town FC.
On Saturday 323 fans (including our very own Matt Harrold and son) travelled to Roots Hall and witnessed scenes and an atmosphere that we’ve not experienced for years.
It was reminiscent of Hull City Away in 2012 when Reds out sung and out fought higher league opponents.
Southend United are a League One side and at times showed their class. But Gabriele Cioffi’s men never gave up, and in the end Crawley got the goal their play deserved to bring the Shrimpers back to the Broadfield Stadium for a replay.

If supporters could get an assist then Crawley’s 85 minute equaliser should definitely be credited to the amazing Red Army.
Despite being a goal down for virtually the whole game, us Reds fans never stopped singing, and got louder and louder. It was one of those Crawley Town Away Days that will live long in the memory.
The whole day was just one big love fest. From the train journey, to the pre match and after match pubs to the game itself.
Apologies now to those travelling on the 17:50 to London Liverpool Street from Southend on Saturday night, but you may of witnessed a few happy supporters. We’ve not had a lot to get excited about over recent weeks, so a few songs may of been sung!
So where does that result and performance leave us? Well it gives the club the boost that our season needed.
After the hammerings by Tranmere and MK Dons, both the players and supporters needed a pick me up. It’s certainly done that, expect another lively night at the Broadfield on Tuesday week, when hopefully Reds will finish the job and progress into round two for the first time in five years.
