Crawley 0, Yeovil 1: Barker admits: ‘It was not our day’

Crawley manager Richie Barker was left wondering how his side had failed to beat Yeovil after their 1-0 defeat tonight.

A last minute David Hunt own goal was a sucker-punch for a Crawley side which had dominated for long spells and saw the pick of the game’s chances fall to Nicky Adams and Gary Alexander.

It leaves Crawley without a win in their last five, and means they slip to ninth in the League One table.

Barker said: “I don’t know how we didn’t win. It’s probably as good a performance as we have had in a while. We created more chances, I thought the players were fantastic, we ran out of luck.”

Both teams struggled on a playing surface which cut up throughout the match, but it made for an enthralling game, which was further complicated when Kyle McFadzean was substituted having complained of feeling unwell - he missed Saturday’s draw with Walsall with a bug.

“On what was a nigh on impossible pitch, the energy levels, desire and work rate was fantastic. It was just not our night.”
