Pre-season friendly Crawley Town 2 Queens Park Rangers 0 MATT Tubbs scored two classy goals to earn Crawley a thrilling victory over Championship club QPR.
An increased crowd of over 1,100 enjoyed another great night with a win over Neil Warnock's side which included five first-team regulars.
QPR took the early initiative, carving out a series of chances in the first few minutes.
Romone Rose, Max Ehmer and Antonio German all went close for the visitors, whose arrival at Broadfield Stadium was delayed by a hold-up on the M25.
Crawley responded with a powerful half volley from Steve Masterton which was only kept out by an awesome save by goalkeeper Radek Cerney.
Tubbs gave Crawley the lead on the rebound on 14 minutes when he gobbled up the loose ball from a half-saved shot by Steve Masterton.
It had been a fast, well constructed move started by a good ball forward by Barry Cogan.
Town looked the better side for much of the first half as Cogan got forward and lifted a shot over the bar and an off-balanced Tubbs could not put away an attempt at the end of a long passing move.
Crawley brought on former Huddersfield midfielder Malvin Kamara at half-time in place of Cogan and the ex-League 1 player looked strong on the right wing.
Kamara provided the incisive through-ball which enabled Town to go 2-0 up in the 67th minute as Tubbs latched on to it, beat Cerney and put the ball cooly away.
Both sides made a series of substitutions as the second half progressed and play became less flowing with fewer chances created.
New signing Dean Howell, who was enjoying a good game at left-back, went off with a shoulder injury after 77 minutes, causing concern as he was signed to provide cover for the already-injured Sam Rents.
It was another impressive display by the Reds, with Tubbs' growing goal tally reaching five and the defence holding firm to keep their unbeaten record against top class opposition.
