Crawley Town 2 Southend United 6: How Reds rated in their FA Cup defeat

A spirited second half fightback from Crawley ended in an anti-climax in their FA Cup first round replay, as Southend came out on top with a 6-2 victory after extra time. Here is how we thought the players fared:

Glenn Morris: 8- Couldn't do anything about Southend opener. Excellent save to deny Simon Cox, but unfortunate to see it bounce straight back to Harry Bunn for a simple finish for 2-0. Potentiality game saving superb stop at 2-0 to deny Cox and Reds score minutes later.

Lewis Young: 4- Positive going forward but kept being caught out defensively, particularly in first half.

Mark Connolly: 4- Part of a poor defence which struggled to contain the visitors' attacks. Could have done more to stop third Southend goal going in, in particular.

Bondz N'Gala: 5- Lack of sharpness in first half with a few misplaced passes but grew into the game.

Josh Doherty: 4-: Unfortunate own goal which set tone for first half, and struggled to get into the game.

Josh Payne 6-:Positive play, comfortable on the ball but later actions restricted by first half yellow card.

George Francomb: 5 - Little impact in disappointing first half for Reds.

Filipe Morais: 6- Great on the ball as usual but struggled to make telling impact.

Luke Gambin: 6- Worked hard, but largely ineffective.

Ollie Palmer: 8- Stand out player and our man of the match. Excellent hold up play and won everything in the air. Impact restricted with hosts not being able to get on the ball for long enough in first half, but made pressure count with patient finish to bring Reds back in the game. Simply superb turn to tee himself up for deserved equaliser. Very unlucky not to be named sponsors' man of the match.

Panutche Camara: 7- Tireless display, tracked back where necessary earning sponsors' man of the match.
