Yates said: “The players have been itching to play again ever since Carlisle.

“We have intensified things in training, have increased our fitness levels and will be ready for Dagenham.”

Loan signing from Ipswich Town Josh Emmanuel is set to make his home debut at right back.

Yates revealed: “Josh is looking good on the training ground. He is only a young man (18) who is strong and quick.

“Dagenham got a good point at home to Plymouth and drew with Whitehawk (in the FA Cup) and will not be where they want to be.

“I would ask fans to take a break from their Christmas shopping and get behind us and we will give them something good to watch!”
