The 22-year-old is well regarded by Pompey fans having made 38 appearances for them last season during which he was arguably their best performer before falling out of favour with former Crawley manager Richie Barker.

The Portsmouth News have reported the deal is pending the outcome of a medical this morning.

It is expected Crawley will have to pay a fee for his services as he still has a year to run on his contract at Portsmouth having joined them a year ago from Hull City.

If the move goes through it will prompt speculation that Reds’ current central defenders Joe Walsh and Kyle McFadzean could be a target to be sold over the summer.
