But one of the leading supporters has vowed he will work with whoever replaces him to help move the club forward.

Crawley Town Supporters Alliance chairman Paul Prendergast said: “I was a bit shocked at the news. I’d like to thank Richard Low on behalf of CTSA members for his contribution over the last six months.

“Richard was always positive and tried to listen to us in meetings and forums with the fans.

“Staff come and go and we move forward and I hope we will go on to more success.

“I don’t know why he has gone.

“I have supported the club for many years and will continue to do so. Whoever the owners choose to replace him I’m sure will do an excellent job. I just hope its someone who understands the problems of Crawley Town like (previous chief executive) Alan Williams did and we will work together on moving things forward.”
