Former Newport County boss and popular Crawley player Jimmy Dack has been linked to the assistant manager’s job after being spotted in the club’s car park.

Yates is currently away but is keeping in daily contact with chief executive Michael Dunford.

Dunford said: “Mark Yates is working on his backroom staff and new signings.

“I would hate to have his phone bill as we are talking to each other every day and it’s his bill, not mine!

“I am hoping we will be able to make an announcement over his new staff in the next couple of weeks.”

“I imagine most clubs will wait until July before they make signings because no-one wants additional staff on the wage bill at this time of year.”
