The Reds have been drawn to face the winners of this afternoon’s third round match between Manchester Utd and Swansea.

Unlike the historic David and Goliath battle between the two Red Devils which Utd won 1-0 in front of 76,000 fans and a worldwide TV audience in 2011, this clash would be at home at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.

However Manchester United must first beat Swansea and Crawley have two hurdles to leap in the form of League 2 side Bristol Rovers in a rearranged second round game at home this Wednesday, January 8.

Assuming they win this the Reds must then overcome Championship giants Birmingham City in the third round at St Andrew’s later this month.

The draw may still seem a long way away in view of the games still to be played but it does give a wonderful incentive to manager John Gregory and his team to beat their next two opponents.
