Fowler has called the Crewe clash a ‘must-win’ after the weekend’s home disappointment against Gillingham.

He said: “I think we only need two games, personally, but three games will be enough I think. We have teams like Crewe who have picked up a good result against Sheffield United so it’s a must-win game, it is a simple as that on Friday.

“We have been a bit greedy as we have had a lot of winning results and we have not lost many games. It’s a bit of a shock we have lost, but we have to regroup and go again – don’t keep your highs too high or your lows too low.”

The on-loan Nuneaton player wants a hard week in training to make sure they hit the ground running in a crucial clash at Crewe.

He added: “We need a tough week now. We need to get back sharper as I thought we were a little bit sluggish as well, get back on the training ground get sharp and I think we can overpower Crewe.

“They are a young team that like to play football the same way, we have got to use our experience, our strength and be brave on the ball.”

“Crewe have maintained their status in the Football League by selling players on, that’s their mantle as a club.

“It works for them, it’s not ideally winning football, they are just looking to sell the next promising star coming through so we need to go there, be experienced, be tall and aggressive and make sure we are physical against them.”
