Crawley must win to stay up while Coventry City must take a point from the game to ensure their survival.

Anything less will mean relegation despite a recent run of improved results under the management of Dean Saunders.

Simpson has seen some big occasions since joining the club four years ago under Steve Evans and wants his injury-blighted campaign to finish on a high by sealing Crawley’s place in the third tier.

He knows the key part the fans can make in creating a good atmosphere.

Simpson said: “When we get the atmosphere going the noise levels really do make such a difference. In the last home game against Notts County our fans made so much noise. It was my first game for a while and I couldn’t believe how good the atmosphere was.

“We know Coventry will be well supported on Sunday but we’re at home, this is our ground and we will be ready to go to try and get the victory we need.

“If as many of our fans can wear something red on Sunday – a shirt, scarf, anything – it will really help.

“Us players would love to play in front of a big Crawley crowd on Sunday because we know that the support of our fans can make all the difference.”
