Notts County urge Crawley Town to accept ‘rather substantial’ bid for Izale McLeod

Notts County chairman Ray Trew has revealed his club has bid £100,000 to buy Crawley Town striker Izale McLeod.

He considered the bid to be ‘rather substantial’ and has urged the Reds to complete the deal.

Trew told local media: “I can confirm recent talk on social media platforms that the club is interested in signing Izale McLeod and that we yesterday had a bid of £100,000 rejected by his parent club Crawley Town,”

“We respect their stance but we feel the money on the table is a rather substantial fee for a Football League player and we hope they’ll reconsider their

stance on this matter.”

On Saturday Crawley manager Mark Yates admitted the club had received a bid for their topscorer but it did not match their valuation.

McLeod, 30, scored 21 goals for Crawley in League One last season and in 2007 commanded a fee of £1,1 million when he was sold by MK Dons to Charlton, having scored 60 goals in three seasons.
