Crawley Town right-back Lanre Oyebanjo is to travel with the squad to the trip to Accrington Stanley, even though he is still a few weeks away from playing a game.

The ex-York City player has not yet started a match this season due to a knee injury.

In January it looked like he could be on the mend with a return to training but unfortunately he picked up a thigh injury which has delayed him further.

Manager Mark Yates explained: “We’ve got a training session in the north-west on Friday so Lanre’s going to come with us for that and to get used to being on a coach and preparing for an away game.

“He’s been to all our home matches this season but he’s probably forgotten what the team bus looks like!

“He’s probably three weeks away from being in contention. We’ve missed him a lot and I’m sure he’s desperate to be playing again.

“He has trained the last few days and he will travel with the squad but no more that than that.

“He is part of the group. It’s been frustrating for him and us that he has been out, but the sooner we can get him back the better. He will still be a few weeks yet.”

Another defender, Joe McNerney is estimated as being three to four weeks away from playing as he also continues his recovery from a knee injury.

Midfielder Jimmy Smith is due to have his protective boot removed early next week with a view to being back in contention in three to four weeks.
