Crawley Town defender Lanre Oyebanjo admitted Reds couldn’t get out of first gear against Hartlepool.
He said: “Probably not the most entertaining game but sometimes you get those.
“We got a clean sheet and if you do that you know you’ve got a chance and towards the end we nearly nicked it.
“I thought the team defended well. We could have been better in possession and had a bit more quality.
“But we done what we needed to do; we took a point.”
Oyebanjo thought Hartlepool were a good side, contrary to their lowly position at fourth from bottom.
He said: “They are a good team - the same as every team in this league: decent.
“They are fighting for their lives - no-one wants to be relegated and you’ve got to respect them.”
“We couldn’t get going, we couldn’t really get out of first gear.
“When you are having those games you have to keep solid and hopefully you will nick something.
