Reds take on Crewe today (Saturday) with Gary Alexander and Martin Hinshelwood in interim charge of the team following Tuesday’s surprise sacking of Richie Barker.

Evans, who led Reds to the Football League and in a healthy position for promotion to League One before leaving for the Millers in April 2012 is still in close contact with Crawley’s owners, who the Crawley Observer understands were looking into the possibility of bringing the Scot back to the Broadfield.

In a message to the Crawley Observer Evans, though said: “Def ruling myself out, a fantastic opportunity for any manager.

“CTFC supporters are used to winning, I can understand them not being happy in recent months. I wish them every success.”

Danny Wilson is the current favourite for the Crawley jobs with SkyBet giving him odds of 6/4 on. Gary Alexander (11/4) and Steve Cotterill (11/4) are the next shortest odds.
