Crawley Town's new owners to reopen academy

Crawley Town's new owners are planning to reopen the academy, sources close to the club have revealed.

The academy thrived a few years ago when Steve Evans was manager when it was run by former Reds player Simon Rusk.

However the current board closed it down at the end of the 2014 season as part of budget cuts.

The Crawley Observer also understands there will be big changes to the board, with chief executive Michael Dunford set to leave in the next few days.

The club is set to be taken over by Ziya Eren, who is the president of Turkish first division side Kayseri Erciyesspor.

A deposit has been received, contracts have been exchanged and the club are now awaiting for approval from the Football League.
