In their opening match Wasps outclassed their opponents Thatcham Town 5-0 before losing their second 3-0 to Bexley Academy in a match where Wasps missed numerous chances before conceding goals on the break.

Wasps bounced back to beat current Surrey U14 League and Cup winners, Carshalton Town 2-1 in their penultimate match before comfortably beating Crowmarsh Youth from Oxfordshire 5-2 in their final match. Player of the tournament went to Josie Stannard who smashed 9 of Wasps 12 goals on the day.

Playing against strong teams from Surrey and Sussex, victories over Fleet Town Girls, Kempton Girls FC, Worthing Town and a 0-0 draw against rivals Eastbourne Borough Girls saw Wasps comfortably win the group without conceding a goal.

In a one-sided final against Fleet Town Girls, Wasps hit the bar when Josie Stannard met Alana Delaney’s corner on the volley.

Wasps continued to press, but could not find a way through despite losing influential defender Eleanor Keegan to a nasty arm injury and some rather desperate defending from Fleet to keep Wasps top scorer Tia Perry out. In a tense penalty shoot-out Wasps eventually lost 3-2.

Crawley Wasps U14s continued their winning ways being crowned U14 Champions of the Worthing FC Summer Tournament.

The League knockout for the girls proved to be a lot harder than expected taking 2 Wins and 2 Loses, but enough points to see us into the 1/4 Finals with a game against Eastbourne Girls the game headed into extra time and with 2 Minutes to go Topaz Luxford found the back of the net.

In the semi-final we came up against Rustington Rovers and again a tough game a long volley from the halfway line from Abbie Chart just bouncing off the cross bar.

Moving into extra-time again Wasps were closing in on a penalty shoot out, when a ball was played into Topaz again finding the winning goal.

The U14’s were now into the Final against University of Portsmouth, from the first whistle the girls were playing hard, fast and with passion, with Topaz now hitting a hatrick to see Wasps 3-0 up with Portsmouth scoring a consolation on the break 3-1. But with the last few minutes left the game was played out and the Crawley Wasps U14s were crowned U14 Champion. U14 Player of Tournament: Chloe Coaker

Presentation Evening

Crawley Wasps’ Annual Presentation evening was a celebration of achievements both on and off the pitch.

With a new committee in place, great coaching and management structure the club has gone from strength to strength. Highlights of the season include the setup of a thriving development squad for players aged from under 8 through to 11, the U13s completing their second league and cup double in a row, and the U14s ending the season in style winning both the Sussex League Challenge Cup and Sussex U4 FA Youth Cup.

Next year the club expect to have teams playing in all age groups from U10 through to two ladies teams.
