Harvey Sparks equalised for the Rebels just before half-time and there were a few other chances they might have put away which could have given them the winning margin.

The Reds boss said: “I thought Worthing were very good. I thought they played through us at times and but for a few saves from Glen (Morris) I thought they could have scored a few more!

“So I’m not really happy with the level; if you give teams that amount of space, we’ll get really hurt.

“Wycombe or Wolverhampton Wanderers will punish us!

“For me it was too many touches at times. The mentality played right against Brighton, to then come against Worthing, they haven’t understood the simplicity of the game, talk to one another and organise.

“We have an understanding of what shape we are in and I think tonight we were a bit loose.”
