“He was a real stable character, but now he’s gone and there will be changes around the place.”

Yates admitted the club needed the new impetus given by a new owner taking over, but revealed he still does not know exactly what plans his new boss has for the club.

Yates said: “The club needed a freshen up - an injection of fresh ideas, of some fresh money.

“I have met with Ziya Eren once for ten-15 minutes and through his representatives we have spoken quite a bit and he has outlined what he wants to do. But I do not know the details.

“Hopefully the president (Ziya Eren) wants to come in and do his best for Crawley Town to take this club forward.

“Now over the next few days and weeks is the time to really nail it down and work out what we are going to do.”
