The 35-year-old, who was named Crawley Observer Player of the Season, rejected a contract offer from Crawley at the end of last month, leaving him to sign for the League 2 side on a free transfer.

The central midfielder remains hugely popular amongst the Reds fans for consistently being one of the club’s best performers in three separate spells at the Broadfield.

He has spent the last four years at Crawley and his departure leaves only defender Kyle McFadzean as a remaining member of the famous Conference-winning side.

Dons boss Neal Ardley told the club website: “I have tried to sign Dannie three times since I’ve been here.

“We watched Crawley several times last season for various reasons and I’ve been really impressed with him.

“He’s a very fit and energetic midfielder and I think he will be a big player for us next season.”
