He played a completely different line-up in each half and was pleased with the way his new signings fitted in to the 4-2-3-1 formation he used and also with the standard of his eight trialists.

Drummy said: “I think 45 minutes was about right for them and then increase it as we go. They are fitted with GPS’s now so we will be looking at their stats.

“You can’t expect too much from the first one, as long as they’re mentally trying to run and dig deep because they are going to hit walls.

“Their technique and their football intelligence, we are trying to get that back in.

“There was some good play but there was some not so good play - you aren’t going to be happy with the goals against you.

“The important thing is they get a run-out and hopefully there are no injuries and we go again to Three Bridges on Tuesday night and just start to build our programme.

The Crawley boss was happy with the way his new signings are gelling as a team.

Drummy said: “We haven’t had a lot of time. To be fair they all seem quite nice and are getting used to the staff. There is a new ethos coming into the club.

“I am pleased we worked hard, scored some goals. It’s what you get in the first game of pre-season - there will be some tougher games coming along!”
