Dismal performance sees Three Bridges brought back down to earth by Magpies

But with a new manager and some new players, including an old Bridges favourite in defender Mark Zydonik, Peacehaven romped to an easy victory, and but for the heroics of Kieron Thorp and some appalling finishing, the scoreline could have been a real embarrassment for Paul Faili’s side.

It’s now three League defeats in a row for Bridges, who could have gone behind inside the first ten seconds, but Daniel Perry’s finish was indifferent to say the least.

Thorp was forced to clear from Perry later with Josh Marshall driving wide of the near post with the follow up, and Peacehaven might well have paid for their slipshod shooting when Ben Godfrey nodded the ball down for Mitchell Casselman to hit a neat volley that Daniel Hutchins did well to push clear.

Thorp pushed a Ryan Worrell effort onto the post, Perry shot wide and Ross Sutton’s weak shot was comfortably held as Peacehaven continued to probe relentlessly.

But Hakeem Adelakun tried his luck with a long range drive and Dan Mobsby and Sammy MacVicar combined to set up a low cross which Casselman almost forced over the line.

But the inevitable goal for the home side came after 29 minutes when Perry broke free and squared the ball to an unmarked Marshall to clip into an empty net.

Thorp then pushed another Perry shot clear and the second half opened in much the same vein as an inviting cross by Maximime Agnoly went unpunished and Sutton had an effort blocked.

Marshall then doubled the score after 55 minutes with a good angled effort from the left, and Bridges almost made an instant response as Steve Sargent rattled the crossbar.

But, apart from another Adelakun effort that ended in a corner, Bridges were way off their game, and there were few players to come out with much credit from what was probably the side’s worst display of the season. Typically, the game ended with Thorp stopping a shot from Agnoly, this summing up Peacehaven’s woefulness in front of goal. If they had scored six, it would not have been an injustice!
