The new Crawley head coach is making his maiden voyage into first team football after a successful career at under-21 and academy level.

Within that he has worked with Chelsea first team players, but knows he must learn to suit the style of the division he finds himself in.

As a result of that, he has brought in former Aldershot Town man Matt Gray as his assistant, who has a vast knowledge of League One and Two.

On whether he can adapt to any level, Drummy said: “I think if you are flexible, but if you are arrogant saying ‘I worked as this, I worked at Chelsea’ then you are blind.

“(I have) to come here and talk to the players, meet the fans, meet the staff and then understand I have to take it somewhere.

“I can’t answer that until I come into Crawley and have a look at the place, one thing I do hope is that I am approachable and have enough common sense at my age to change what is needed.

“I think you have to learn to win. I have taken the first team (Chelsea) on international week and done the reserve team with (Nicolas) Anelka being in it, with (Florent) Malouda being in it, I have worked with those players.

“I know they are elite talents, but some of the traits that John Terry had in training, that (Frank) Lampard, that Didier (Drogba) did, I would like to bring it here.

“You can still demand a standard of excellence from any human being.”
