East makes Pompey comeback for reserves

The defender has missed the first four months of the season with a pelvic problem.

But he was introduced as a second-half substitute in today’s draw at the Blues’ new training ground at Roko, before being replaced as a precaution with 75 minutes on the clock.

Adam Webster and Joe Devera were also involved in today’s game as they too make progress in their return from injury.

Chris Zebrowski put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot on 16 minutes, after he was hauled back in the box by Johnny Ertl.

Ben Close got the Blues back on level terms with a classy finish two minutes after half-time, before the Academy’s Conor Chaplin continued his good form in front of goal by giving the hosts a 2-1 lead on 54 minutes.

With first-team manager Andy Awford looking on from the sides, Pompey, however, were unable to hold on to the win.

Newport were handed a second penalty on 88 minutes following a foul on Curtis Obeng – and Rene Howe converted to give the Welsh side a share of the points.
