The local lad’s 83rd-minute strike saw Reds pinch a point off promotion-chasing Plymouth Argyle in a 1-1 draw at the Checkatrade Stadium.

His wait for a goal for his home-town club ended on Saturday and he said: “I am delighted to be fair.

“To come off the bench and get the equaliser. I think we needed a result as well, so I am buzzing.

“I had some off my boys in the crowd and they haven’t been for a few weeks, so to score in front of them and obviously a lot of people know me from around here, so it felt good.

“I was pleased as I have been coming off the bench quite late on, but I was pleased to get a decent run-out.

“I feel like I can impact the game and get my legs goings in that amount of time, so thanks to the manager for putting me on.

“They brought a lot of fans, there was a good feeling around the stadium, a good crowd, good atmosphere, so it made it extra special.”
