Friday football at The Polegrove

Bexhill United continue their run of home games with a visit from relegation-threatened Seaford Town tonight (Friday).

United head into the Sussex County League Division Two tussle on something of a high after their 2-1 victory over neighbours Little Common on Boxing Day, with substitute Dan Hill netting the winner in the second minute of stoppage time.

“We go into the game on the back of a decent victory,” said Bexhill joint manager Jamie Podmore. “Hopefully we can push on and get another run going. We only seem to go on little runs so it would be nice if we could string five or six wins together. We’re just striving for consistency.”

Second-bottom Seaford, on the other hand, suffered a blow in their fight against the drop by going down 3-1 at home to fellow strugglers Westfield and have lost 12 of their last 14 matches.

“They seem to be struggling and at home on a big pitch we fancy our chances against most sides,” Podmore went on. Kick-off at The Polegrove is 7.45pm.

Bexhill have bolstered their squad by signing goalkeeper Gavin Bourne, pictured, from Westfield to provide competition for Joe Rogers, the club’s current first choice between the posts.
