Day Two of this year’s Furngate Sixes proved to be another great day after steady rain in the morning threatened to dampen sprits.
At around 11am the wet weather subsided and the sun came out producing a glorious day which was slightly cooler than Saturday which would have been welcome relief for the players.
There was plenty of success for local sides as three out of five events were won by clubs from the Crawley and Horsham areas.
Hosting club Furngate Youth White won the under-12s event, beating Crawley Town Boys 2-1 in the final.
Horsham Amber lifted the under-15s trophy after overcoming final opponents Crawley United 1-0.
Wisborough Green made it the fourth year running they have won an event by defeating South Park 2-1 after extra-time.
Perennial winners Balham Blazers always come away with trophies and this year was no different when they became under-10s champions.
They beat Furngate Youth 2-1 in the final.
Rottingdean Village stopped Balham Blazers from taking two events when they won the under-14s final 2-1 on penalties.
It was another great weekend’s youth football and a triumph for organisers Raj Dhiman and Anne Truett of Furngate Youth Football Club.
The Crawley Observer was again sponsoring the tournament which always proves to be a popular and enjoyable occasion.
Our photographers Jon Rigby and Liz Pearce captured the action and team-shots which will feature in our special 16-page supplement which comes out in the Crawley Observer this Wednesday.
