FURNGATE U14s: Wisborough Green hat-trick heroes

Wisborough Green completed a superb treble when they lifted the Under-14s title which was the third year in a row they had won the Furngate Sixes.

It was a close-run thing as they won both the final and their quarter-final were decided on penalties.

The final was against Peacehaven White and finished 0-0 despite chances for either side, notably from Peacehaven’s Chandler Perrin and Wisborough’s Scott Buchanan.

Wisborough won the shoot-out 3-2 with successful kicks by Joel Colbran, Jordan Bell and Reece Hallard.

Delighted manager Andy Colbran said: “It was a very strong team performance - we passed the ball around in the heat and were fortunate enough to win on penalties. Keeper Joe Morgan was in excellent form and made some fine saves. It has been a hard day but it’s been brilliant.”

Wisborough reached the final by beating Maidenbower Utd A 2-0 in the semi-final thanks to a goal in each half by Joel Colbran. Earlier in the quarter-final they overcame South Park Juniors Red on penalties after extra-time ended level at 0-0.

Maidenbower had knocked out Oakwood 1-0 in the quarter-finals.

Peacehaven defeated South Park Juniors Black 2-0 in their semi-final with goals either side of the break by Chandler Perrin and Jonjo Washington.
