The Reds' suffered their second home defeat in four days after losing 2-1 to Grimsby Town at the People's Pension Stadium.

After taking the lead through a Max Watters thunderbolt, Yems' side put in a low par performance and goals either side of half time saw Ian Holloway's side claim all three points.

A disappointed Yems said afterwards: "We weren’t good enough, nowhere near good enough. Both boxes. We started very well with Max scoring a worldie but for some reason we just don’t seem at the races at the minute. No excuses from anybody.

"You have just got to do it for 90 minutes. We have been doing it for 90 minutes, and doing it for 95 minutes like we did at Torquay. But for the last couple of games we just haven’t been on it."

And there could be changes in the side for the away trips coming up - starting with the FA Cup on Sunday. Yems said: "We have been looking at it and maybe we need some changes and freshen it up but maybe that’s what we are. Let’s not kid ourselves that we are going to win the European Cup but that’s not acceptable in my eyes.

"I don’t mind getting beat but that wasn’t me, it wasn’t Crawley."

And although the manager takes responsibility, he believes the players have got to step up to.

He said: "We have lost two games at home in a year. The lads have got to take responsibility themselves, they have got to look at themselves and ask did I try hard enough, were they good enough.

"We pick them and of course we feel responsible but it’s not me that’s missing chances, it’s not me that’s missing tackles, it’s not me that’s missing headers.

"If it’s hard to pick them up then we find someone else who will pick themselves up. They are a good bunch of lads, they don’t become bad players overnight.

"The last two games have been very disappointing.

"The first defeat we saw as a one off but you can’t make it a habit. There will be a few harsh words said to a few players.

"We win together and we lose together. I am part of the losing side as much as you are part of the winning side. I will take responsibility for what we have done, let’s hope a few other step up to the plate."

The next time Crawley play at home will be on December 12 against Barrow - and it should be in front of a crowd following Monday's latest government announcement.. Yems said: "It's good news but I’m glad they weren’t allowed in tonight to watch that and I am glad they weren’t allowed in Saturday, so that was a bonus.

"It’s good to see the Crawley Town fans will be coming back. I think we have got a team they can be proud of. It’s just a couple days that have not gone well."
