Yems said: "It was after the heat of the battle, I think there was a few things that come over. It’s funny how you can edit these things.

"Living local, I know a lot of people who come to Crawley and I have a great relationship with the fans.

"It’s a little bit sad people thought it was directed at the fans.

"When you get asked by a reporter from the BBC about ‘those in the stands’ making comments on our decisions on our football club and our team.

"There was no supporters in the stands so how can I think it’s them.

"I’d like to think our fans are a bit football savvy than ask why I would take off a striker who has scored."

Yems also thinks fans wouldn't want it any other way and that he is only standing up for the club. He said: "I understand I was angry but there’s a difference between being angry for the right reasons and being angry for the wrong reasons.

"If I came one here singing and dancing because we had just got beaten and not caring. I would expect the Crawley fans, or any fans for that matter, to get the hump.

"It’s just the way I am. Those of you that know me that I am a little bit like that.

"There’s another 40 or 50 clubs that want to pop Crawley off, let’s not worry about what I am like in interviews and think I am being disrespectful to the club, in fact it's the complete opposite, I am standing up for the club.

"But when a microphone is shoved under your nose when you have thrown away a 1-0 lead when you should have been six or seven up, sometimes it is very difficult.

"I am not the most diplomatic person at times. I think Donald Trump is a little bit more diplomatic than me.

"But it’s only through one thing - I want this football club, and I want us to do well, and I mean us, the fans and me to do well and if we do well, the team will do well."
