'It wasn't a Crawley Town performance' - John Yems reacts to Southend United draw

Ashley Nadesan gave his side a 21st minute lead but Southend secured their first point of the season thanks to Nathan Ralph's 85th minute volley.

And Yems said his side were lucky to come away with a point in the end.

"We haven’t got beat and it’s another point from relegation but the performance just wasn’t acceptable.

"Credit to them, they made it hard for us as we knew they would but listen if we play like that again or show that commitment.

"In the end we are possibly lucky to come away with a point."

Reds had their chances to extend their lead, notably two glorious chances for Tyler Frost. But Yems does not blame him.

He said: "If he gets in those positions again, he will score them. He didn’t mean to miss them.

"All I know is that we could have been out there until breakfast time [and not score] and certain players who have to look at themselves.

"We are far from being a good side, and we are far from being a club that will challenge for things. That standard was not acceptable today."

Crawley now look ahead to an away trip to Cheltenham next week.
