McAlinden is looking forward to coming into the squad for the first time for tomorrow’s visit to Luton Town.

“It’s going to be a good game for me to come into.

“They are going to have a decent crowd there and their results have picked up recently as well.

“They’ll be in with an outside shot of the play-offs so we will need to go there, perform well and get the right result and come away with three points.

“I’m looking for plenty of gametime and plenty of experience.

“I haven’t had any experience at this level before. I know it’s going to be tough and there’s plenty of good footballers in the league so hopefully I can do as well as I possibly can here.

“Every player wants to be out there playing and it’s frustrating not to play and hope to take it in my stride.

“I am looking to enjoy myself. Hopefully I will get plenty of gametime and goals and we will see where my future goes from there.”

McAlinden, 22, said: “I have come into it now and it’s really fresh and everyone’s excited with the takeover so hopefully I can be part of something new and it all goes well.”

“Mark Yates has seen me play quite a lot in his Cheltenham days, he has seen me starting out and hopefully he was impressed with me back then.

“When it came out he was interested in taking me I was delighted in taking up the offer to come here.

“I might be 6ft 3ins but I’m not much of a target man, I’m more of an in-off-the shoulder guy, getting behind the back-fours. I’m fast. Every striker is looking to score goals, that is what keeps you in the team, so If I get plenty of goals as well as the gametime I am looking for, hopefully it will be a wonderful time here.”
