A slow-burning Test match is starting to catch fire. We do not know who is going to win but if the weather behaves one team will. The balance of power keeps swinging. After a 123-run partnership between Joe Root and Jonathan Trott England seemed to be sitting pretty: 159 for two and the lead 184. Sacked Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has taken out a full page newspaper advert to say goodbye to the fans. The Italian, 48, was shown the door by club chiefs on Monday night who said under Mancini the club “failed to achieve any of its stated targets this year.” (The Mirror)

An emotional David Beckham was in exceptional form for Paris Saint-Germain in his final ever professional game. Beckham, who was handed the captain’s armband by manager Carlo Ancelotti, pulled the strings in the centre of midfield as the Ligue 1 champions cruised to victory. (Daily Mail)
