“It’s doubtful whether anything will be done by Monday so we will probably go with the same group next week and see where we go.

“I just think at the moment we need to find out what is going on. I understand that things take time but as the manager of this football club, the timing hasn’t been brilliant on our part.

“I’ve always said since I’ve been here that we will deal with whatever we have to deal with but unfortunately it means probably a bit of inactivity on Monday.

“Once we find out exactly what is happening and have a meeting with the potential new owners then things will become clearer.

“It just means I haven’t been able to sign any players. We still need another goalkeeper, without a doubt.

“I have a 41-year-old goalkeeping coach on the bench and that shows where we are at the moment. It’s been massively frustrating but it is what it is.

“A number of times you have heard me say that I can only deal with what’s in front of me and the circumstances that are here.

“It is not ideal but it is what it is and as depressed as I am, we will be back on the training ground on Monday.

“We need a few fresh faces - we have lost a bit of confidence and we need to start again.

“I would like to meet somebody now but it isn’t down to me. It’s me being told when I’ll get the chance to speak to these people.

“Listen, I might be out on my ear straight away. I might be the first one out. Until it is all clear and we have spoken to them about their plans, I can’t really say a lot about it.”
