The Portland Timbers loanee was speaking ahead of Albion’s home game against Huddersfield Town, where he is set to make his home debut.

He said: “The more games I get will be fantastic.

“I know that there is a discussion between the two clubs whether or not to extend it (the loan) or whatever but the MLS does start back in early March.

“The more games I play the better I feel, so there is a little bit of a tug and war and I’m sure that we’ll come to some agreement shortly.”

Since his arrival was announced on December 30, the former England under-21 international has started all three games that he has been eligible for.

After missing the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on New Year’s Day due to the transfer window not opening until January 2, the 31-year-old has played 90 minutes in each of the away games at Hull City, Rotherham United and Blackburn Rovers.

After the 1-0 win at Ewood Park last week, the MLS Cup winner was happy to have finally secured three points.

He said: “Christmas is a very difficult time with games coming thick and fast. If you do lose a game, you suddenly role into another one and lose again and it starts to pile up.

“It was nice to put our stamp down on a really good away win and performance and it was a big positive step for us.”

Ridgewell’s loan is set to run out on February 13, after Albion play against Bolton Wanderers, their third home game in a row.
