Jordan Clark gave Arundel the lead on 50 minutes, after Scott Tipper and Barney Boutwood had combined, before Rory Biggs latched on to keeper James Fernandes’s long kick forward to seal the win in the last minute.

Mullets boss Simon Butler was delighted with the win as his side moved up to sixth in the County League Division 1 table. He said: “We played very well as East Preston still had a quality side out, full of Ryman League experience.

“I’m sure they will be fine once they’ve gelled but, from our point of view, it was a very pleasing performance.”

The defeat was East Preston’s first in the league this season and they dropped a place to third, although are still just two points off leaders Littlehampton.

EP boss Sammy Donnelly said: “Take nothing away from Arundel, they deserved their win. We had plenty of possession but possession football doesn’t always get you wins and I’m going to have to change the way we play.

“We’ve lost a dozen players, so it’s a big rebuilding job and only Rob Boddy and Shaun Charles have stayed here, which is very commendable of them. It’s a massive task but I’m going to do the best I can.”
