Last night’s deluge of rain has left standing water on parts on The Pilot Field pitch first thing this morning and the surface will therefore be inspected at some point later today.

United groundsman Simon Rudkins wrote on social network site Twitter at 8.45am: “A pitch inspection will be arranged later ahead of tonight’s @hastingsufc v Chipstead game after last night’s deluge.”

The U’s will be eager to get playing again and make up for the disappointment of their 1-0 loss away to Tooting & Mitcham United on Saturday when they squandered a raft of opportunities.

United still lie fourth in the Ryman Football League Division One South table going into what should be their penultimate home midweek game of the campaign. Assuming it goes ahead, kick-off at The Pilot Field will be 7.45pm.

Chipstead spent much of the first half of the campaign in the lower reaches of the standings, but a run of four wins in their last five games has lifted them to just below mid-table. United were 1-0 winners in the reverse fixture on the opening day thanks to a Matt Maclean goal.
