Ex-Newcastle, Bolton and West Ham midfielder Kevin Nolan has been appointed as player-manager of League 2 rivals Leyton Orient after they sacked Ian Hendon.

Nolan who has amassed more than 500 professional appearances and won promotion out of the Championship twice, will be looking to push the O’s up the table.

Currently, the East-London club sit just three points of the play-offs and their new manager will have the league’s top goalscorer at his disposal in Jay Simpson. (20 goals)

The Reds travel to Brisbane Road on Saturday 27th February and have history this season in seeing off former players from the top division, most recently beating Teddy Sheringham’s Stevenage side 1-0 on Boxing Day.
