Crawley Town’s fight against relegation got a boost tonight (Tuesday) as both Notts County and Leyton Orient both lost their games in hand over Dean Saunders’ men.
Notts County, after losing at Crawley on Saturday, lost 3-1 at home to Preston while Leyton Orient lost 1-0 away to Rochdale.
The result leaves Crawley on 50 points in 19th, Crewe 20th on 49, Orient 21st ahead on County on goal difference on 47 points.
Colchester are 23rd on 45 points with a game in hand on the teams above them.
Dean Saunders told the Crawley Observer before the game: “There are two big games this week for Orient and Notts County. Without wishing ill fortune on them, we want them both to go our way.
“Hopefully, we will still not be in the bottom four after those games and it would mean they have to still pick up more points than us.”
Crawley travel to Peterborough on Saturday.
