It follows yesterday’s news that Reds had terminated manager Richie Barker’s contract amid speculation he will take over at Portsmouth. Today Barker’s assistant Anthony ‘Taff’ Williams also had his contract terminated at Crawley, the club confirmed.

A statement on the Robins’ website confirmed they have parted company with O’Driscoll this morning (Thursday November 27) following a wretched run of only two wins from 18 league games leaving the side in the relegation places.

O’Driscoll would not be the most popular choice with a number of Reds fans after he quit as Crawley manager less than a month after taking charge to take up the job at Nottingham Forest. He did not oversee a competitive game.

Currently Steve Cotterill is the bookies favourite to take over at Crawley Town, SkyBet placing his odds at 7/4. Steve Coppell, Martin Allen, Neil Warnock and Justin Edinburgh are also touted as possible replacements.

It is understood striker Gary Alexander will be in charge of the side on Saturday alongside chief scout Martin Hinshelwood.

No announcement has yet been made by Portsmouth, although the Crawley Observer understand talks between Barker and a club representative have taken place.
