They have lost all three of their home games played but, following this win at Sittingbourne, they have taken ten points from their four away fixtures!

This latest was ground out against a side below them in the table but with a decent recent run, a run that seemed destined to continue when they took a fourth minute lead with their first notable attack.

Hicham Akhazzan sent Miles Cornwell away on the right and his low cross was met by Josh Wisson. His initial shot was blocked but Jordan Wells slammed home the rebound to give Bridges the worst possible start.

But Bridges were level after ten minutes as Hakeem Adelakun played a glorious ball from the left to Sammy MacVicar on the far right.

He raced forward and sent the inch-perfect cross for Tony Garrod to meet and sweep a delicious shot into the far corner of Adam Molloy’s net.

Adelakun then shot wide and a deflected shot from Akhazzan at the other end was well held by Kieron Thorp.

But on the stroke of half-time a good build up involving Matt Daniel and Jamie Brotherton on the left ended with Adelakun poking the ball forward and Ben Godfrey lashed it home off the back stanchion from close-range.

Three minutes into the second half MacVicar and Godfrey combined to set up Brotherton, who shot over as the ball bounced awkwardly, while soon after Brotherton knocked a tempting ball over to Garrod, who raced away but then hit a weak finish that was gratefully gathered by Molloy.

The worry was that Bridges might regret not taking these chances, but the visitors’ defence was in obdurate mood with Jamie Crellin and Drew Cooney both throwing themselves in the way of any potential danger.

It meant that the Brickies were reduced to ambitious long range efforts, the only one to cause minor concern coming from substitute Jono Richardson, whose effort was just wide.

Now if only Bridges could get their act together at home as well, they might start to worry a few more teams.
