Tony Lelliott, Vice Chairman of the Sussex County Women’s and Girls Football League (SCWGFL), said: “We are proud to announce this exciting partnership to support the invaluable work of Chestnut Tree House.

The SCWGFL have 90 teams in the league and we are just entering into our tenth anniversary year, with clubs spread across Sussex. Our aim is to get all the clubs to participate in a variety of fundraising activities for Chestnut Tree House during the next three years. It’s going to be a really fun and rewarding time!”

Caroline Roberts-Quigley, Community Fundraiser for Chestnut Tree House, said: “This partnership is really exciting and I am grateful to Tony and all of the players and clubs who will be supporting us. With clubs located across Sussex, this initiative will really help to raise awareness of Chestnut Tree House, which is the only children’s hospice in Sussex.

“We provide specialist care services to 300 children and young people aged 0 - 19 with life-shortening and life-threatening illnesses in East Sussex, West Sussex and South East Hampshire. It costs well over £3 million each year to provide all our care services. Families are never charged for their care and the hospice receives less than 8% of this cost from central government, so we rely heavily on the generosity, help and support of local communities.

“Happy 10th anniversary to the SCWGFL and thank you to all the clubs who will be showing their support.”
