Unlucky for the goal... looked a bit lost... a lovely Cruyff turn: Crawley's players rated v Stevenage

As Crawley Town fell to a dismal 1-0 loss at home to Stevenage Town, we rated the Reds players on another poor night at the People’s Pension Stadium.

Glenn Morris 8 - Numerous stops to keep Crawley in it. First denied Roles from close range, narrowing the angle well, before making the save. Then, as List broke through, the Harrogate attacker was denied by Morris’ left boot. Unlucky for the goal as Stevenage’s substitute, Osbourne, curled the ball into the top corner from about 20 yards, leaving Norris completely helpless.

George Francomb 6.5 - Skipper was solid again defensively, but lacked quality when getting forward. Worked hard as always. Goal came down his side, but would be difficult to pin such a great strike on his defending.

Tony Craig 6 - Struggled when turned; the centre-back battled hard and was booked for late challenge on Norris. Proper no-nonsense stuff.

Jordan Tunnicliffe 6 - Returning after missing the loss to Harrogate Town, Tunnicliffe was vocal throughout. Header well saved after he brought the ball out of defence, played it wide, and continued his run into the Stevenage area. Solid.

Tom Dallison 7 - Gave an outlet for Crawley to get out when pushing forward down the left. Won everything in the air. Pace questioned by Stevenage right winger, List, but held his own well when challenged in a 1v1.

Josh Wright 6 - Sitting in front of the back four, Wright looked as composed as usual. Some lovely dinked balls in behind when under pressure, but largely missed out by the long ball forward from the Crawley centre-backs to Nichols.

Jack Powell 5.5 - Battled hard. Had a decent effort from long range, but struggled to find a teammate as he lost possession far too frequently.

Jake Hessenthaler 5.5 - Playing just off Nichols, but looked a bit lost. Wasn’t able to get on the ball as much as was required to. Better second half, but lacked a creative spark.

Tyler Frost 5.5 - Good pace but didn’t offer much in the first half. Looked more comfortable on the right and when given the chance produced some decent deliveries that his teammates should have done better with. Far too wasteful and was subbed with 15 mins to play.

Jordan Maguire-Drew 6.5 - Free-kick well saved earlier in the first half. Little joy on the right, so switched to the left in the second half. Good feet and went close with a shot that was blocked in the area. Produced some wonderful crosses, particularly from dead-ball situations and won the penalty, that was missed, late on.

Tom Nichols 6.5 - Missed a late penalty, failing to convert from 12 yards for the second time in three matches. It is a shame this will once again take the headlines, as he played well against two towering centre-backs. Flicks and tricks, and even a lovely Cruyff-turn at one point. Might not take a penalty for a while though.

Subs: Archie Davis - Given 15 minutes. Davis was bright, but delivery was poor considering he was brought on to create. Lovely bit of skill started the move to win the penalty.

Ashley Nadesan - Brought on far too late to make any impact.
