Warden Park u-16s finish school careers in triumph

The Warden Park Under 16 Boys Football team finished their school careers in triumph as they lifted the Mid-Sussex Cup at Haywards Heath Football Club wining 5-4 on penalties against Downlands.

Warden Park opened the scoring in the first minute when good work by Guy Williams provided a cross for centre forward Nathan Hickman to ease the ball into the net at the far post. Unfortunately the big centre forward turned villain when he conceded a penalty mid-way through the first half which Downlands converted.

The game was an entertaining affair but even extra time could not separate the sides. The victory for Warden Park makes up for last seasons final defeat on penalties. Victories over Sackville 5-0 away from home and then defending champions Forest 3-1 secured the final spot for Warden Park. Six of the Warden Park squad are infact U15 team members.
